The base engine is a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that creates 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Another option is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, which delivers 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will come with a smooth ten-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel-drive. All-wheel drive is an option on all trims for those who would like more traction. Now, let’s get to the features of the Base! It is standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a power liftgate, triple-zone automatic climate control, cloth seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. You will also be privy to the exceptional FordPass Connect services, including a remote engine start and Wi-Fi access. On top of all these wonderful features, there are also safety issues to consider! The Explorer keeps you safe with several unique safety items, such as automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision mitigation, blind-spot warning with rear-cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and lane departure mitigation.

The next level up from the Base is the XLT trim, and it adds to the Explorer with features such as heated exterior mirrors, roof rails, keyless access with push-button engine start, heated front seats, second-row captains chairs, and upgraded interior trim. In addition. There are several packages available for the XLT. The first is the Sport Appearance package, which has sporty features such as 20-inch carbonized grey wheels and exterior trim, black side mirror caps, and exclusive interior trim. You can also opt for a technology package with power-folding exterior mirrors, an auto-dimming interior mirror, a wireless smartphone charger, and trailer towing equipment. The XLT also provides several advanced safety features thanks to the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package, which has adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system, an evasive steering assist, and a navigation system.

If you want a sportier trim, check out the ST-Line, which has several impressive design cues that include 20-inch alloy wheels with a machined-finish surface, dark-tined headlights and taillights, a black grille and exterior trim, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and power-folding external mirrors. You also get some other advanced features, such as ambient interior lighting, simulated leather and suede upholstery, and a navigation system. Then there is the advanced tech of the ST-Line that includes wireless smartphone charging, a surround-view camera system, and the one-of-a-kind 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

Want your Explorer to have some fun off-road capability? Then check out the Timberline trim! It comes with all the advanced off-road equipment, such as a standard all-wheel-drive, a limited-slip rear differential, 18-inch black alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, and off-road suspension with some added ground clearance. But wait, there’s more! The Timberline is standard with underbody skid plates, trailer towing equipment, unique front styling, front tow hooks, and heated second-row seats. There is a lot to love about this trim!

For fans of luxury, there is the Limited trim! Standard here are 20-inch alloy wheels, added chrome exterior trim, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. All of the features for the XLT trim come standard, and you can also get the Limited trim with heated second-row seats, second-row sunshades, and front parking sensors. You can also get the option of a hybrid engine for the Limited, which has 313 horsepower!

More styling modifications are available for the ST, along with several more advanced features such as transmission paddle shifters, quad exhaust outlets, sport suspension tuning, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, sport-bolstered front seats, and more! The V6 engine also comes standard. In addition, a few option packages are available for the ST, such as the ST Street Pack and ST High-Performance Package, which will come with more unique features such as 21-inch alloy wheels, performance brakes, and red brake calipers. You can also opt for the spectacular ST High Package, which has heated, power-folding exterior mirrors with LED turn signal indicators and puddle lighting, a hands-free power liftgate, power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, memory for the driver’s settings, and rear automatic braking.

The next trim we have to tell you about is the luxurious King Ranch trim, which has an inspired Western theme! In addition to all of the standard features on the Limited, the King Ranch has some cool-looking features such as wood interior trim, leather-wrapped interior panels, unique leather upholstery, automatic rear braking, power-folding third-row seat, and all of the features from the ST High package.

The final trim in the Explorer’s repitour is the Platinum trim, and it has several polished features that fans of the SUV are sure to love! You also get standard 21-inch alloy wheels, adaptive headlights, a satin aluminum grille and exterior trim, diamond-pattern leather upholstery, and an exclusive wood interior trim. The standard hybrid powertrain and a technology package bring you a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 14-speaker premium sound system.
